Beatmate - Pro Music Metronome -
Any time signature, tap tempo, polyrhythms & a bpm speed trainer practice
Beatmate was built for the other kind of practice — the kind where the click stops being a nag and starts being a band. One tap and you're in 4/4. One more and you're in 11/16, sitting inside a 5:4 polyrhythm, with a drum groove underneath and a tempo that climbs four BPM every four bars while you're not looking.
Whether you're chasing clean sixteenths or untangling 7/8, this is the practice partner that never gets tired of the boring part.
SET IT IN A SECOND OR BUILD A TIME SIGNATURE NOBODY ELSE SUPPORTS.
Tap the tempo, double it, halve it, nudge it by five, or type it exactly — 1 to 999 BPM, decimals welcome. Then go further than any metronome you've owned: any time signature you can name, and a few you can't.
• 1–16 beats a bar, counted in quarters, eighths or dotted quarters
• 5/8, 6/8, 7/8, 9/8, 12/8, 7/16, 9/16, 11/16 — or invent your own grouping; 2+2+3 is one tap away
• Up to eight notes per beat: triplets, quintuplets, septuplets
• Swing, from dead straight to a hard shuffle
• Tap any block to accent it, soften it or silence it — then change the subdivision and your pattern stays exactly where you put it
• A one or two bar count-in before the pattern arrives
• Save the whole thing under a name and bring it back next week
THE PRACTICE DOES ITSELF
• Speed trainer — start at 80, land at 120, climbing a few BPM every few bars. Hold at the top, or loop back and go again.
• Gap trainer — bars of silence where you keep the time yourself. The playhead keeps moving. The truth arrives when the click comes back.
• Set a session in minutes or bars and it ends on a soft chime
• Your total practice time, quietly counted
POLYRHYTHMS YOU CAN FINALLY HEAR
Four cycles turning against each other in a single revolution — 3:2, 4:3, 5:4, 7:4, 9:4, even 5:4:3. Give each one its own sound, its own note and octave, its own volume, and you stop hearing arithmetic and start hearing music.
WHEN A CLICK ISN'T ENOUGH, BRING A DRUMMER
Some things you can't practice to a beep. Swap the click track for real drum sounds and the metronome turns into something you can actually play with — kicks, snares, rims, sticks, hats, ride, crash, toms, cowbell. Tune the rhythm until it's yours: every track gets its own loop length and its own volume, and the whole groove swings as hard as you want it to, from dead straight to a deep shuffle. Put a seven-step snare under a sixteen-step hi-hat and the groove keeps shifting instead of looping flat — the same lick stops feeling the same. Save it, and it's waiting at the next session.
HATE THE SOUND OF EVERY METRONOME YOU'VE TRIED?
Build your own. Six clean presets to start — Wood, Click, Beep, Ding, Square, Sine — and Click Lab, where the click is yours down to the oscillators, the noise, the attack, the decay and the pitch drop. Then give the accent, the beat and the subdivision each their own sound and level, and pan the whole thing across the stereo field. No click in this app is a recording — every one of them is synthesized the moment you play it.
A METRONOME YOU CAN SEE AND FEEL
• Haptic pulse — the beat in your hand when the room is too loud
• Camera flash on every beat: a visual metronome you can follow from across a stage, with no sound at all
• Plays in the background and keeps the screen awake while you work
